We welcome Delwyn Ogilvy and her team to the Bombers family.
“At 10 years old, riding an old stock horse bare back around the farm, Delwyn Ogilvy first dreamed of representing Australia at International Level in the sport of Equestrian. After winning the PCAV State Championships in 1977, she was bitten by the eventing bug and started working towards her dream.
Having trained and competed many horses to advanced level, Del won the coveted Gawler 3 Day Event on Beta and was named Event Rider of the Year in 1990. Two years later, she set off to England with Beta, where she ranked in Great Britain’s top 30 eventers. Del was named reserve rider for the gold medal winning Australian Eventing Team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, falling just short of her dream when Beta was unable to compete at a key selection event due to injury.
Del is renowned for her horse training ability, having personally trained every horse she has ever competed on. In fact, a newspaper article in the ‘80s claimed Del could train a clothes horse and still win!
Del currently trains and coaches as an EA Level 2 Eventing Specialist Coach in Tynong North, in Victoria’s equestrian heart land. She competes up to 3* level and is currently enjoying great success with her stunning, up-and-coming warmblood mare Precious Dreams. Sirena, as she’s known in the stable, has had a remarkable career to date, having numerous wins at EvA95 and Eva105, before zooming through 1* level to 2* level in a few short months.”
